About Me
My name is Renee and I am a mum with a busy schedule. I love fitness, trail running, gym and the outdoors. I particularly love my bike!
After living in Malaysia for a couple of years with my husband and children we relocated back to Brisbane, my home town. The expat life had gotten to me, and I was not as fit and healthy as I would have liked. I decided to do something outlandish and purchase a Cargo Bike. After doing some research, I realized that they weren't really a thing here in Australia, but a big deal overseas. I was convinced that this was going to be a life changing decision.
Fast forward nearly 3 years and I have a different cargo bike, a passion for riding, but am still not riding the majority of my commutes. This is when I remembered a charity I learnt about a couple of years back, World Bicycle Relief. They assist children in rural regions of some West and East African nations but giving bicycles to kids and health workers. This in turn, increases attendance rates and assists health workers see more clients.
I was set. I concocted a challenge in my head and have pledged to not set foot inside a car for a whole entire year while still maintaining all my regular commitments, parent and race in ultra trail running events for enjoyment. In this period of time I hope to raise enough money for 100 bikes, that is $19 550. This blog is to document my life, successes and challenges during this process.
